Specialized Collaborations

A specialized collaboration is a collaboration between Personal Counseling and a specialized Skyline College program that has been identified as either having a higher demand for emotional support for their student participants and/or having program goals that include a wellness component. I developed three specialized collaborations with the following programs:

Women’s Mentorship and Leadership Academy

International Students Program

Middle College

I also began outreach efforts with the program Brother’s Achieving Milestones (BAM) during the 2022-2023 school year and will continue these efforts in the coming academic year.

The specialized collaborations include four main components:

  • Point-person/liaison for referrals including crisis management referrals.
  • Tailored Outreach services
  • Regular faculty and staff consultations
  • Coordination for participation in a variety of events hosted by each program.

This workshop series was so well-received that we will be exploring future presentations on similar topics and other topics of interest for the 2023-2024 academic year. Due to the success of the collaboration we were also able to help students in need get connected to ongoing counseling support.
