Professional Development & Training 2021-2022

Training and Professional Consultation:

  • Consultation and collaboration with clinical supervisors at CSM and Cañada College.
  • Consultation and support provided to Marco Chacon, new full-time counselor and coordinator of intern program at Cañada college
  • Recruited, interviewed and will manage new intern for 2022-2023 school year.
  • Currently supervise five interns:  One- marriage, family therapy trainee, two- marriage family therapy trainee/clinical counselor trainees soon to be Registered Post-graduate Associates, one Post-graduate Associate Social Worker and one Post graduate Associate Marriage, Family Therapist soon to be licensed. 
  • Provided all key statistics to support additional staffing at Skyline College including key information for the Presidential Innovation Fund which funded our 2019-2021 intern staff and our current graduate students from St. Mary’s college and new part-time faculty adjuncts
  • Clinical coaching and consultation provided to licensed staff.
  • Coordinated district wide training on the following topic:
    • Grief and Loss
  • Individual consultations on students of concern and CARE referrals.
  • Immediate consultation for classroom situations or code of conduct concerns.
  • Discipline consultations and advocacy work for students
  • Individual consultations on situational crisis for faculty and staff
  • Administrative consultations on sensitive situations
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive resource packet for Title IX packet
  • Provided additional hours and support on off days to cover CARES referrals
  • Provided additional support to Dean Escobar as we did not have a Director of Student Support for the 2021-2022 school year. 
  • Selected to be part of the Title IX team as a student advocate

Specialized Programming 

During the 2021-2022 developed a specialized collaboration and therapeutic programming with the Women’s Mentorship & Leadership Academy (WMLA). 

The following services were created and implemented in conjunction with Danielle Powell program coordinator:

  • Regular program meetings to discuss specific needs of the WMLA members.
  • Year-long classes and presentations presented and coordinated for the WMLA members.
    • Escalation Domestic Violence Workshop
    • General Counseling Resources and Community Resources
    • Career Development and participation for Fall Retreat
    • Mindfulness class provided by personal counseling staff at Spring Retreat
  • Clinical supervision to Golda Margate who works as coordinator for the WMLA program and served as a liaison with Personal Counseling
  • Stream-line of referrals and gender specific requests and needs of WMLA students.
  • Case management for specific WMLA students
  • Participation of year end celebration
  • Coordination with other Personal Counseling staff on providing presentations. 

Due to the success of this collaboration we will continue this work with WMLA for the 2022-2023 academic year and we have added a similar collaboration with the International Students Program.
